Overview
E-Aji Dip Snax was a Philippine snack line pairing savoury pieces with a separate tub of dip.
Documented in retail by July 2006, it offered fries, nachos and ridged snacks with cheese, salsa, sweet-chilli, mayonnaise-based and chilli-con-carne dips. San Miguel’s 2008 portfolios also listed larger party packs with two dips.
Later Philippine coverage treats the original line as discontinued, but no withdrawal date is established. Trademark registrations in 2022 and 2025 record legal activity, not a confirmed retail relaunch.
Why It Mattered
E-Aji Dip Snax made dipping a built-in part of an everyday packaged snack, combining crunchy pieces and a separate sauce tub in one convenient purchase. Its range of flavours and larger party packs turned the concept into a recognisable product line rather than a single novelty.
The snack also became part of Filipino childhood nostalgia. Later recollections frequently centred on the experience of opening the dip compartment and pairing it with fries, nachos or ridged snacks. Its disappearance left a distinctive format that former customers continued to remember and request.
Earliest Documented Retail Account
- A first-hand post dated 24 July 2006 called E-Aji a new snack, reported buying it at Cash N’ Carry and listed seven combinations.
- The account establishes retail availability by July 2006, but not the commercial launch date.
Product Range and Brand Boundaries
- San Miguel’s 2008 portfolios list fries, nachos and ridges paired with cheese, salsa, sweet-chilli, mayonnaise-based and chilli-con-carne dips.
- The same portfolios list Dip Snax separately from E-Aji Potato Chips, Tortilla Chips, Thin & Light, Trios and Baked Sticks; those were related products rather than Dip Snax editions.
- No individual product designer, packaging engineer or advertising agency has been identified.
Trademark Activity and Discontinuation
- The E-Aji Dip Snax trademark was assigned to San Miguel Pure Foods Company, Inc. on 9 August 2010.
- E-AJI DIP SNAX was registered to San Miguel Food and Beverage, Inc. in 2022, followed by another application in 2024 and registration in 2025.
- Those trademark entries record legal activity rather than continued sales or a retail relaunch.
- SPOT.ph included the line in a 2023 retrospective about discontinued Philippine foods, but no formal withdrawal date has been established.
