Overview
Kellogg’s introduced Cereal Straws in the United States in 2007 as cereal-branded snacks shaped like straws.
The hollow snacks could be eaten directly or used to drink milk, giving the format a second function beyond simply being a snack.
The range used familiar cereal brands, including Cocoa Krispies, Froot Loops and Apple Jacks.
Why It Mattered
Cereal Straws made the shape of the snack part of its function. Combining an edible straw with established cereal branding offered something distinct from a conventional cereal bar or wafer.
