Defining Feature
Online flavour choices turned into personalised prize pots
Status
Historical event - advertised prize window ended 30 September 2017; the site’s exact shutdown date is unknown
Overview
Onken YouGurt was a month-long UK promotion that turned online flavour choices into prize pots.
During September 2017, visitors to its virtual factory chose three of twelve ingredients. The campaign advertised 50 personalised pots as daily prizes, with names and chosen flavour combinations on the packaging.
A sponsored recipient photographed and tasted one mango, coconut and chilli sample. The prize window ended on 30 September, although the site’s exact shutdown date is unknown.
Why It Mattered
Personalisation crossed from the screen into something that could actually be eaten. The online choice appeared in a video bearing the participant’s name and an illustration of the flavour combination, while winners were promised a pot labelled with their name and chosen mix. In a documented sponsored example, mango, coconut and chilli proved adventurous enough for the recipient to consider using it as frozen yoghurt rather than with her usual breakfast.
Inside the Virtual Factory
- The virtual factory was an online promotional interface, not a documented manufacturing facility.
- The Robin Collective said its development team tested dozens of ingredients before reducing the available selection to twelve.
- Fifty personalised pots per day were advertised from 1 to 30 September, but this was a prize offer rather than a verified fulfilment total.
Personalisation and the Documented Sample
- The personalised video was described as carrying the entrant’s name and an illustration of the flavour combination.
- Winning-pot packaging was described separately as carrying the recipient’s name and chosen flavour combination.
- One disclosed sponsored account documents a physical mango, coconut and chilli sample, but does not establish that its recipient was a randomly selected competition winner.
Production and Digital Remains
- A syndicated campaign listing credits Karmarama with the digital campaign, Kream with production, Robert Sanderson as director and Paul Baker / 3D Studios with production design.
- The archived campaign page retains the title “YouGurt”, but its principal script is unavailable and the interactive factory no longer replays.
- The “Onken Yougurt Supercut” Vimeo portfolio page displays an upload date of 29 October 2018; this dates the upload, not the 2017 campaign.

Food: Design Your Own YouGurt with Onken (AD)
Complete substantive recipient account read in surviving syndication, including explicit Onken sponsorship. Author describes mango/coconut/chilli sample, says less suitable for her breakfast and planned frozen-yogurt use. Firsthand tasting and pot photo, but sponsored; no independent flavour test or proof every winner received a pot. Original blog request returned 522; syndication not a second witness.
YouGurt: original campaign site shell
Original HTML shell preserved and browser navigation inspected: page title YouGurt, empty container and script dependencies. Main linked campaign script returned 404; rendered replay blank. No original rules, usable factory interaction, server behaviour, winner selection or privacy terms claimed recovered. Archive date not camera day.
Only indexed title, account and short description read. Browser and HTTP access show human-verification challenge. Kream UK / Rob Sanderson attribution is indexed portfolio text, not film watched. Saved notes explicitly not original film or full page.
Onken teams up with food designers for personalised YouGurt range
Complete substantive original article read from captured HTML. Quotes Emmi UK managing director Julie Plant and Robin Collective director Robin Fegen. Recipe development and taste claims are interested-party testimony; fifty daily deliveries are advertised plans, not independently audited results.
Onken mixes up personalised Yougurt
Complete substantive original launch article read. Lists twelve ingredients, three-choice mechanic, 1–30 September daily prize offer and campaign domain. Same publisher family and similar brand wording as Grocer; not independent proof of fulfilment. Published artwork captured unchanged from page metadata image URL.
Onken website capable of bespoke content creation developed for new campaign
