Overview
Rimba Racer was a Malaysian 3D animated series following a tiger street racer into the Rimba Grand Prix.
Annecy listed the project as Malaysian in 2012. The story centres on Tag, who receives an invitation to join the competition.
Reports date the start of its 13-episode first season on Malaysia’s TV3 to 10 January 2015. Later Season 2 credits and a trailer indicate further work, but leave its subsequent broadcast history unresolved.
Why It Mattered
Rimba Racer received national industry recognition when it won Best Animated Series at the 27th Malaysian Film Festival. FINAS lists the series and Glue Studio Sdn Bhd among the winners, documenting its place in Malaysia’s screen awards.
From Project to TV3 Series
- Annecy listed Rimba Racer as a Malaysian animated-TV project in 2012, crediting Tariq Mohd Noh, Nasrul Hakim Mohamad and Idiyaz Baharuddin in project-stage roles.
- Amanz announced a planned TV3 first episode for 10 January 2015 at 5pm; a report published two days later said the series had begun in the Saturday Bananana! slot.
- Launch reporting described the first season as a 13-episode series.
Pilot, Languages and Credits
- Daily FT reported Glue Studios’ account that an English-voiced pilot led to approval for a full series planned in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
- Azman Zulkiply’s portfolio records English-language trailer roles in 2012 and separate Malay- and English-language Season 1 roles in 2015.
- Project-stage and later catalogue credits use different role listings, so they are retained as records of different production contexts.
Later Listings and Recognition
- Azman Zulkiply’s portfolio lists English Season 2 voice roles in 2017, while a YouTube page is titled as a Season 2 trailer.
- Prime Video displays Rimba Racer as a two-season title and shows Season 1 for purchase in the captured storefront.
- FINAS lists Glue Studio Sdn Bhd and Rimba Racer among the winners for Best Animated Series at the 27th Malaysian Film Festival.
